gold coast apartments (What's Included?) Unless specified otherwise, Gold Coast holiday accommodation is "fully self contained" which means everything necessary for a self catering holiday is included in the apartment. Guests only need to bring their personal effects, clothing and foodstuffs. The following are typical of the inclusions although some variations from the list may occur between different properties.
Video and CD hire is often available from the front desk. The majority of properties now offer cable, or satellite, TV services. Some, but not all, apartments provide hairdryers. If not included in the apartment, they are often available from the reception desk. Many apartments and resorts now provide internet connections allowing guests can stay in touch with their email and the internet. Some properties have the connectivity in the guest apartment and others provide an internet kiosk facility. Apartments is usually serviced on a 7 or 10 day cycle. More frequent servicing can usually be arranged with management for an extra cost.
The usual sleeping configurations for apartments consists of a King or Queen size bed in the main bedroom and 2 single beds in each of the other bedrooms.
Most accommodation allows for an extra person so a 2 bedroom can accommodate 5 and a 3 bedroom can accommodate 7. This arrangement usually works best if the extra person is a child. The extra bed is usually a roll-away divan and in some cases it may be a pull-out sofa bed. Extra person charges will apply to cover the bed rental, extra bed and bathroom linen and servicing costs. It is often the case that the cost for a (say) 2 bedroom unit plus extra person is similar to the 3 bedroom tariff. Studio apartments/suites are not common, but when they are available it is usually on the basis that they will accommodate 2 persons only with no option for an extra person.
High rise apartments will generally provide the best views, great ocean breezes that can eliminate the need for air conditioning and elevator access to all levels. While most holiday makers prefer the views that are usually found in high rise apartments, not everyone has a head for heights or children may be of an age where playing on high rise balconies may be considered a safety risk. Low rise apartments are often referred to as "walk up" which means that there are no elevators and access to the apartments is via flights of stairs. Guests with limited mobility may need to take this into account. Depending on the individual location, low rise properties may not get the full advantage of ocean breezes. Having an air conditioned unit may be an important consideration for guests visiting during the height of summer.
Accommodation properties do not operate their own airport shuttle services. Guests needing transfers from Coolangatta airport can either use a taxi cab, limousine or commercial shuttle service. Always check with the accommodation provider at time of booking for their recommendations on the options available an likely costs. Visitors
arriving into Brisbane can board the
Airtrain service in front of the
airport terminal and be on the Gold Coast 1hr 15 min later. There is a
door-to-door service where limos will take you to your accommodation from the station. |
